Social media and disasters: resources

From the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)’s weekly e-newsletter:

Several new resources have been released that provide information important to those making use of social media during disasters. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs issued a document with ideas on how to standardize hashtags to make them more useful; Dr. Patrick Meier, Director of Social Innovation at QCRI, spoke at TEDxTraveseCity on the concept of Digital Humanitarians; and Humanity Road developed a guide to help emergency managers understand social media analytics.
